The multifandom fest for fanfiction with dark themes is now taking prompts.
Fest Schedule and FAQ
Yeah, it's totally that time of year again. Flisters, go forth and do your duty! This is like the perfect fest for ASOIAF, and I prompt Enterprise every year and no one ever writes it, and seriously, there is a reason why I use that "Julian Bashir was really a Dominion spy" prompt as an example every single time. Also, you know, other fandoms. The Ood are judging you! Go!

Recs: Animal, Vegetable, Mineral
Aug. 16th, 2011 03:49 pmSo, I had this brilliant plan I was going to tag all my delicious bookmarks all proper like, and label everything gen, het, slash or femslash, which sounds simple, right? Well, no. NO. I now have slashy_gen tags and femslashy_gen tags and a gen_with_het tag, and I’ve given up wondering if canon pairings count as slash and implemented a generic canon_pairings tag. I’m pretty sure there’s such a thing as genny-slash etc too, not to mention canon_pairings_gen, but I haven’t spun off the rails quite that far yet. Also dark and horror are definitely two different things (though one fic can be both), but where’s the line, and what worlds will crumble if I get this wrong? All of them, that’s what worlds. All the worlds. Will crumble.
This is why I don’t work in admin.

Recs: The Faceless Men
Aug. 1st, 2011 03:02 amI’ve forgotten how to do entries that don’t start with “Recs” apparently. I have things to say about A Dance with Dragons and other things, but what is it that we say to LJ updates? NOT TODAY. Meanwhile, have some recs.

Recs: The Untouchables
Jul. 9th, 2011 08:53 pmI know in some circles it’s not considered good form to begin reviews with “I don’t usually like X, but…” but I am reclaiming that. It’s a compliment. It means you scored. In the sense of a goal, not those other things you think scored means.

Recs: Talk of Tongues
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:41 pmNB: A Song of Ice and Fire recs may contain massive, clanging Game of Thrones spoilers. For my part, I am not looking the internet directly in the eye until I have my own copy of A Dance with Dragons (!~*A Dance with Dragons*~!) in my hands. I’m so spoiler-averse I might not even read it.

Jun. 16th, 2011 11:48 amRec post the second (first here) and still more to come. Why don’t I bookmark stuff, why? My poor Delicious account, it’s like a dog I don’t walk.

Recs: The Dead are Mighty
Jun. 9th, 2011 06:40 pmI’ve been kindle-ising fic, so I thought I’d share some old and new favourites. These are the fics that have had me going “Oooh, that one with the thing, I loved the thing!” and hopping all over the internet to find them. I have many more than nine favourites, so this is just the first post.

Dark Fest FAQ
So. Writing slash, for straight people, is kind of like being invited into the living room of the LGBT experience. And it's one thing, as a civilised guest, to make yourself comfortable, relax, and have fun in someone else's house, but it's quite another to litter it with your own crap, stamp your muddy boots all over the carpet, and wank off all over the couch.

Stolen from
amand_r and other places. I don't usually do memes like this because my usual reaction on being faced with this kind of stuff from other people is to go blank from the brain down, and also, who the heck is going to remember shit I've written, but... I've been talking about vegetarian sandwiches on
wrisomifu for the best part of the last hour, my head needs a change.
Aubergine goes in sandwiches now, I'm told. I'm intrigued, disturbed and aroused.
Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.
ETA: Here is a link to my fan fictions.
